Cold Day at the Zoo

We decided to head to the zoo one Sunday afternoon. It was bright and sunny so we had visions of a lovely picnic, some summery fun looking at the animals and riding the train. Should have checked the weather a little more closely! It was one of those Utah early-summer days...meaning it looked good but it was COLD. And windy. But it was fun. When we weren't shivering or wiping noses.

Tagg insists that the peacock is his favorite animal. We don't know why, but it's has been going on for about 2 years now so we think he might be serious. And, today, we saw a real live peacock with his tail feathers flared. Tagg was in heaven. And I was happy that the bird did not attack him...flashbacks to my younger days when a peacock attacked my little brother at Hogle Zoo. That may have damaged him for life.

Needless to say, by the time we made our way to the carousel, Tagg insisted that we ride the peacock. The most boring of all the carousel critters, in my opinion. You just sit there! But Tagg loves it, and Sloane won't be anywhere without Tagg so there we were, riding round and round...in a peacock.

Sloane was having a ball! Tagg liked it too, but he was running out of gas at this point.

seen them so active, so maybe the cold was worth it!
