Christmas...Two

We had church at 9am but we didn't want the kids to miss their Santa Clause experience. So Scott and got up at 6 (bear in mind that we were up a bit late making sure that Santa had everything set, and that our gifts were wrapped and perfect, and that we were packed for a Christmas on the road = late!). We got all ready, and then woke our sleepy kids up at 7am. They are pretty regular. 7:15 - 7:30, they are UP. Waking them up before they get up has never panned out well for us. But, as always, we had high hopes.
Even though I explained that Santa had come and brought presents, the kids were still
sleepy and needed some Daddy knee hugs before they were ready to tear into the gifts. Sweet.
Sloane has a tube of plastic animals from her
stocking (perfect for church!), and a HexBug (also perfect for church).
Santa was on to something!
Sloane, of course, dove right into the presents. Tagg was very concerned about the fact that Santa ate the cookies and drank the milk, and that the reindeer had eaten their food. He actually looked at the tree and said, "More presents?" I'm thinking, kid...you have no idea. You're just on Xmas #2!
Ripping into the stockings!

Sloane's favorite gift of the day? Backyardigans videos. She literally bounces up and down, giggles,
and hums the theme song. Then she carried the video box around for the rest of the day.

Our little Tagg-man still loves his books. Please note that this is an IPAD under his new Stellaluna book, which we read for the first time at Lake Powell this year. We'll see how Stella holds up once he figures out that the iPad is a big, giant iPhone. Where he can't get banned for playing "balloons" (that's what he calls "texting"...yeah, it's not good when you get 74 texts from someone and text 68 says "tagg" so you know you're just over your minutes and that a 3 year old can text faster than you can.)

The carnage after gift opening session #2. We were all a little tired but still managed to make a big mess.
My little man. Yes, he just got an iPad, a race track, a work bench, Angry Birds...all kinds of fascinating stuff. This Cheerios (shameless plug) was the big hit. He has had one at Grama and Bompa's that he loves and it's a hundred years old. So when i saw this, I had to get it. And he ADORES it. Best game/book ever. And our little guy still loves learning and doing, the old fashioned way as much as he loves the techy, new-fangled stuff. He's really smart and special.
Once we destroyed the house with playing and gifting, power church-dressed the kids, packed up what we thought were entertaining yet quiet gifts for the church service, and ate a "snack" breakfast we were off to Christmas Three!
